Rotkee vs. Pico was created by cadman777
Hi Guys,
Any of you veterans scope users give a Rotkee scope a test drive?
If so, how does it compare to the Pico automotive scope and software?
Thanx...Chris

I really want to. :woohoo: Especially since it looks like it does many of the same functions that the USB Autoscope does.

Doesn't look like anybody in here has tried one yet.
Does that mean ***I*** have to?
I'm no expert, so my opinion isn't worth much.
But if I must, I must!

Specs look decent enough other than no mention of a buffer. I'm wondering if it writes direct to the PC rather than buffering internally??

I downloaded the software and played around with it a bit. It's not super user friendly but sure looks interesting. Neither the "Help" or "User Manual" do anything so you'll have to figure it out for yourself.

Duh! Didn't even think to try downloading the software! Guess I'll try that first, compile a list of questions, and then 'inquire'. Thanx for the tip!

OK, just tried it. I can 'get' about 60% of it. But the rest of it I'd need help knowing what it does.
If they have a manual in Russian, I could run it through my OCR program to get it into English.
That's the next inquiry. Stay tuned...

Somebody crowdfund this man!

I'll order one, too, just haven't gotten around to making the MoneyGram thing happen.

Yeah, CrowdFund me.
While your're at it, CF my retirement!

That'd be great.
You guys get one and try it out to see how it compares to Pico 4425A.
I want to have some Math functions on it so I can do the hard stuff.
If I could get the signal data out of the Scope software and into an Excel spreadsheet, I'd be able to do it myself in there.
But getting that data is impossible b/c none of the Scope softwares have an export translator (at least not the ones I use).
Thing is, I contacted the Rotkee guys, but they never responded...

It weren't nuthin'

Not much use without sample waveforms anyways. Download these and extract them to the Rotkee\Data folder. I used 7zip to extract them but I think most zip utilities will work.

If you click on the math functions it says they're "in development".

Try opening one of the *.mt files with excel. I couldn't get anything useful out of one with libreoffice but excel might read it properly??

Hantek and Pico automotive software will both do CSV export. Not sure about their regular software though.

Also found an older copy of user manual in russian.

Translate screwed up the download links for me. That's why I posted a link to the original page.

OK, so you did it already.
Me too, so that's why I'm glad you posted them.
They sure do look like good wave forms!
I'm still working on translating that 'Help' file...

Just tried opening an '.mt' file in Excel, but no luck.
It's in 'compiled' format.

Just spent all day yesterday updating my Win 10 Home Edition OEM version to the latest Win 10.
Tried the Windows overlay app and it works.
However, I can't export '.mt' files out of the native software to anything, so can't get a CSV out of it for the overlay.
Guess I'll have to use a screen capture.
But really, if I end up getting the MT scope, what does it matter?
It's got its own overlay.

I got a shirt that says "I Cracked the Code'.
It applies to the IRC.
But now I can say it applies to this automotive criminal syndicate too!

Man... you guys really got me thinking now! My Vantage is good for what I use it, but anytime I need to zoom in or our or set markers it is kinda clunky and annoying.

On paper the specs are not as good as Pico....but I like the LAN aspect ( easy DIY WiFi if speeds hold up ), 8 channels can't be bad, and they all seem 300v tolerant inputs which saves any need for attenuators....would affect resolution ?

I've been tempted myself, their range of accessories are cheap too....just can't convince myself it's the right one to go for.

Or Diamag scope seems to be another similar unit diamag-osc.com/ that was mentioned before.

But from the online info I can gather, they both seem to be copies of the USB Autoscope, but it carries a much higher price. All from Ukraine.

Choices choices...

I did find this seller who list the MT-Pro.....but it doesnt seem to have any mention of the Rotkee name. Although the seller did not have any stocks of the unit. But their site says they take paypal, which might make transactions easier.

motorstate.com.ua/product-36905-motorstate

If they'd been in stock I'd probably have bought it.

Anyone managed to buy anything from Rotkee ?
I ordered a couple of bits to try them out, Transferwise seems Ok, they sent me an order confirmation but no details on how to pay them. Not making it easy.

I did the same with a scope and a few different attachments. Was kinda hoping for some more guidance on payment.
