My son has a 2006 Dodge ram 1500. A few days ago the door lock started locking and unlocking randomly. Could this be a short in the door lock circuit or could it be in the security system. Would anyone have a circuit diagram for the door locks and the security system.
Thanks in advanced

I’ve seen this on several Chrysler vehicles and found the TIPM was at fault. The fix is either replace the TIPM or TIPM bypass.

Of course, test and very before throwing a part at it.

What is best way to attack to diagnosis the tipm. I think there is a short in the harness in right front door. Would that cause all 4 to auto lock

Before going down the road of chasing a TIPM fault, I would suggest removing the battery from the keyfob to rule out a keyfob issue.

Hey hope this helps. based on the wiring diagram uploaded here.

If there is an intermittent short to ground on the driver side door look switch on the VIO/DK GREEN wire it can trigger the instrument cluster to receive a ground unlocking the doors.

Also if there is a short to ground or any chaffing to ground on the VIO/LT GREEN wire on the passenger side door lock switch that will also trigger the instrument cluster to lock and unlock all doors.

If you put your Voltohmeter to the continuity tester function and put one of your leads to body ground and the other lead to the VIO/LT GREEN wire on the passenger side and it it beeps showing continuity to ground when you move the harness then you have chaffing to ground causing the issue.Same test on the driver door but to the VIO/DK GREEN wire. Lots of tipms replacements on Chrysler products but not cheap fix to the customer and you gotta get it right

Hope this helps. Instrument cluster is the driver here hope that helps
