Looking for a video / pictures / info for 06 Chevy impala door impact sensors was created by Dtnel
I’m looking for a video for a Chevy Impala Impact door sensor , 2006 or similar model. If i could find one with a overview, diagnosis or something similar that would be great, maybe involving troubleshooting .
I’ve seen the one ScannerDanner did on the Tahoe front bumper but that wasn’t what I’m looking for. Looking online it’s tough to find videos regarding this topic as well so I figured I’d ask and maybe someone has some footage they haven’t uploaded, seen somewhere where they can guide me to it. It would be nice to see one where they go in the vehicle wherever the left side impact sensor is located {Door, etc}.
I’m not looking for the one in the front grill as those are in the front under the front cover. If I recall off the top of my head it’s a B0085 for the 06 Impala and it has a 3.9 L Engine, 122k miles. There’s no clearing the code and it doesn’t come and go as it’s just a steady air bag light. I haven’t taken the door panel off because I don’t know the location of the sensor, troubleshooting procedure, etc.
I’m fine with doing the work as I just need a little guidance as I’ve had the front sensors under the bumper out as the dealer had said those were bad after I’d paid them to diagnose but not replace it.
In turn it wasn’t the front left sensor under the bumper cover but a different one because with the left front under bumper cover unplugged we hooked the battery back up and had 1 additional code that had went away when i removed battery power and plugged the sensor back in then hooked battery power back to the vehicle to scan it again to prove that the left front impact sensor under the hood wasn’t the problem as the dealer had said it was and indicated to me after so graciously accepting my money.

If you mean the side impact sensors they are usually bolted to a very solid part of the body structure under the front seats, I have changed 4 on various BMW and Rovers in all of those the cause was water ingress trapped under the carpet. These are smart sensors similar to the one in Paul's video on the front impact sensor.

Ok I found the wiring diagram online. When I selected for the engine model for my vehicle though the website (bbb) didn't have the 3.9 as a option for engine but I would think that wouldn't be relevant here.
With wiring diagram reading being one of my weak points could someone help explain the system on this diagram namely the left side around the drivers door. From what I'm able to discern is the diagram don't show the location but in a way I never expected it to otherwise that would make it to easy.

Ok uploading the PDF file didn't work so I guess I'll try this again.
Tried to make it visible in the post but something tells me I have to do a screenshot I'm guessing if I recollect properly as it's been awhile since I've posted.

Thanks Andy that makes things a lot more understandable and gives me the direction I need to go. Off the door panel will come.
On a side note when I'd questioned the front one being out and what I'd described I did with regard to the dealer and then checking / swapping the part over at home I'd also unplugged the air bag control module after removing the passenger seat and finding the pin wire at the front of the vehicle and at the air bag module and used a power probe line signal tool to verify there were no breaks in the line. That's one other way I verified that another part of the system was working properly. I also swapped both front ones in front of the grill and the code didn't move one side to the other which told me I was chasing the wrong thing.
