Quick update. ( cus I'm bored )
When I tested BP I said "upstream" well bad choice of words. I put gauge on the small hose closest to sensor leaving sensor port open.
This time I put gauge inline ( Tee connector) on the big hose and got a different reaction. The needle was way more steady. Here is an idle picture, and a 3k rpm pic.

Black gauge for BP.
White is vacuum

So you performed the back pressure test like in the video and that’s all the gauge moved?? You look into an injector balance test video yet?? If the converter isn’t clogged it has to be injectors restricted

Have you pulled the front oxygen sensors and screw in an exhaust back pressure tester and wot it??

I don't have that tool. But isn't what I did the same thing? I put a pressure gauge inline to the DPFE sensor on the exhaust side of the internal orifice inside the EGR pipe.
And as far as the injectors go, we'll I was kinda rooting for a plugged cat. So no I failed to investigate that line of inquiry. I've had the top of this motor apart so many times I could do it with my eyes closed. Yeah, was really rooting for that cat. :cheer:
Hangon for a sec.
Couldn't find it. But I came across something that said the PCM if without power needs drive cycles to relearn how parts respond in older motors. Specifically injectors and how they pulse, I guess each one is different, but a couple of 60 to 40 deceleration without braking is needed to do this. I haven't driven it like that since the new injectors were installed. Anyway I will look into that balance thingy before bed.
Thank you.
Happy mothers day.
You know if your a mother that is.

I haven't given up on this, just had to step back for a bit, and put a starter in the Nissan.
So I'm not sure what I'm looking at here not fully but would I be right to say the exhaust isn't restricted?

Just for a learning experience  I decided to open the exhaust system upstream of the cats. Just to see if anything changed. Outside of it being louder I don't think it got better or worse. But I did get the data at WOT with the same PIDs (just not in the same order)

There isn't anyway to upload an audio file, is there? I recorded the motor at idle, open exhaust. Something sounds off to me. mechanically saying.

Number 3 plug is getting oil fouled. I pulled the plugs when the motor was delivered. None of them were oil fouled.
So since it's the same bank as the lean condition, I'm thinking internal vacuum leak. Going to do a compression test and leak down test. Then when I'm done going to watch your vid on "testing for internal vacuum leak"
Back to autozone.
: *)
Loner tools, not parts this time.

Have you checked fuel pressure under load? Looks like you’re lean under load. Have you done an injector balance test yet??

I have a dead cyl. #5 has 35 compression.
So, that was a learning arch.
Well I appreciate not having to deal with it alone. Thank you and Paul very much.
Until we meet again.

Well, well, well. I haven't opened up a motor since 82. Ehh, I got lucky. This is a pushrod motor. They were all pushrod motors in 82. So both heads were cracked. And there was water in #5 and #6 was heading the same direction. Now the excitement begins when I flip it over and get inside. Wasn't any sludge except the bottom of pan. I started taking measurements and every thing was coming up daisies. I was surprised how good the crankshaft camshaft cam bearings pistons and rods were. The boars were round and tapered. And all measurements fell within acceptable limits..I honed cyl replaced everything except pistons rods oil pump and cam bearings. Replaced heads valves, springs plenum. Put on all the new parts I got it. And I have to say, sometimes I even impress myself. It started up and purrs like a horny cat.
Here's a rock steady vacuum reading to leave ya'll with.
Hey Paul I'll sell you your book back for half price. It's in mint condition.
:woohoo:
