Yes actually, I changed the distributor but the compressor still won't engage. So I'm stumped...

Lol, no! That was a parts car. It made more sense to pull the 4L80E trans and scrap the van then to try and find a place to keep it in the yard.

I asked one of my guys to save the distributor and he quickly called me over to inform me that he had discovered why he couldn't turn the engine to get the converter bolts.

Bwahahahahahahahah

Real question, though: In that situation, what does the junkyard tech do? Get medieval on the flexplate? Or skip it and junk the whole thing?

Oh no, you better not puss out and throw away that $600 transmission!

You slide the trans off the converter and use the torch to cut the flywheel around the converter bolts.

It takes practice, but you'd be surprised what I can get done with a cutting torch.

Nice! Like Noah would let something like some pesky converter bolts stop him. :silly: AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT.

My boss taught me that one.

Sometimes I'll drop the oil pan and try to unbolt the mains.
Or of a broke sometimes you can get up in there with an air chisel and break apart whatever is binding you up.

Just like if you had to change a siezed engine in a truck.

Old 4.0 SOHC Explorer we had. It finally ran out of borrowed time , and this was a result of the Crank to jackshaft timing chain jumping time
