Gosh, he wasn't wrong! I was yanking the engine out of an old (junk) Integra today, and decided to test fit my adapters to one of the smaller relays under the hood. I was afraid of the female receivers accidently jumping relay pins together. :pinch:

Like I said, fine for the old big relays with fat spade ends, but too chancey for anything else.

A little 1/4" heat shrink tubing, (thanks for the suggestion) and now I'm confident to use these.

And the wiper blade inserts are perfect for those little GM relays. (Another good suggestion).

I require a modest $5 royalty fee for every stilt produced with the blade inserts. ;) You understand.

Yeah, check's in the mail :P

It still would be real easy to accidently jump two poles with a test light or meter lead. I wouldn't offer to lend them to just anybody in the shop, and not because someone might lose one  ....

Installing them onto the relay first seems to be the best way to avoid getting them jumbled up and possibly crossing pins.

Blast from the past, lol!

I found myself looking to test the base of a relay (again), and contemplating spending $80 of my hard earned money on a set of fancy break out relays (again) , and decided I could improve my previous attempt at a simple and cost effective alternative.
So I went with the same basic idea, shortened the "stilts", soldered the ends on and covered nearly the entire thing in heat shrink tubing.
This makes them more stable, less likely to cross a circuit and fry a module and leaves just enough of the bottom of the relay exposed to measure voltage.

I had to! Lawyers won't work on trade. :(

But seriously, the stilts are slick. I have the master set of those relay testers, and it doesn't cover everything. The stilts can be made to work on anything. B)
