Have an issue with an 1987 Buick Grand National that I thought was fixed but it is still there.

Purchased an Own and Hantek probe. I have:
Timebase = 20ms / div
Channel 1 connected to the CAM HI pin on the ECM set to 5V / div. This comes from the ignition module. Waveform looks consistent
Channel 2 is connected to the Hantek ignition probe on cylinder 2 set to 500 mv /div
Channel 1 looks to my untrained eye to be good. It is a steady constant signal.
Channel 2 looks like there are some major issues.
Are these the correct typical settings. The output file from the Owon is a .CAP. Cannot attach it.
Thanks!

Can you send me the .CAP file? wrenchturnsyou@gmail.com
I have no hands-on experience with those probes, but my first instinct is that the polarity may not be correct. Can channel #2 be inverted?
You may have thought of this, but I'd try hooking up to a known good cylinder first, for a baseline.

I did not try a known good cylinder yet. Will do that ASAP.
The channel can be inverted.
Sent you the file.

Is there a preferred program for viewing .CAP extensions? :huh: I tried a couple, and couldn't make it happen.

Capacitive pick-ups by design, will show an inverted waveform no matter how you clip it. By inverting it in the software, it becomes right side up

Nearly always but it depends on coil polarity not all systems give the classic negative spark.
