OBD2 Breakouts --- revisted was created by Andy.MacFadyen
A few months back I posted thread on OBD2 breakout boxes
www.scannerdanner.com/forum/diagnostic-t...shop-bought.html#312
The one I bought failed yesterday with a soldered joint needing remade --- of course I ended resoldering a dozen wires which with my soldering skills..:pinch:  ................... but it is now working and allowed me to jumper the required pins .
While fixing the box it occured to me that a one of those OBD socket splitter cables would make a perfectly useable cheap breakout

I've never seen one of those splitters.
That looks like a perfect place to start making break out leads. Or just leave it alone and front probe.

In reference to your original breakout box. I looked at these before & thought that the single ground connection would possibly cover up a problem. It appears to combine the signal ground & the chassis ground terminals. If your issue was on one of these ground circuits, you might cover up the problem by using this breakout box.
I purchased one of these: ebay item # 232397992931 - Sorry, forum wont let me link to the ebay auction.
I've had it for awhile, it works fine & has separate grounds. I'm sure if I ever opened it up I would be re-soldering everything inside also.
Making something with an old OBDII cable would work in a pinch, but these boxes make everything so much nicer, when they work as intended.
