Hello all & Happy New Year !!
I'm Richard Ingham & an independent shop owner. I attended Forbes Trail Technical School & Wilkinsburg High School and graduated in 1972.
My first job was at a Quaker State gas station, then Ford dealership, and then at a Porsche/Audi dealership. My brother & I opened our shop in 1976.
It's amazing with all the changes since starting out in this field.
One thing I've found is that you never stop learning. Each day can bring a new challenge with diagnosing a problem.
I purchased Paul's book to help with refreshing my mind and improving test procedures.
I'm looking forward to discussions on the forum & will offer help if I can.

Welcome ! :-)
One thing's for sure things have changed and the rate of change is getting faster. I always say it took 10 years for the car repair trade to learn how to diagnose alternators after they became common, now we have to learn to deal with huge changes in complex systems every month or so. Some things never change though Ford GM, Chrysler, Nissan, Toyota still have their own way of doing things. Lift the bonnet on a Peugeot the hood and you still exclaim WTF ! Why !!!! ;-(
