Hello all. My name is John and I am an entry level tech (current full time student at Kishwaukee College in N. Illinois, about to start my second year). I currently work as an apprentice tech at a local independent shop as a lubrication tech. I am a bit older than most entering this field as I just recently retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in Feb of 2018 where I served in a number of roles, primarily as an armorer (small arms weapons repair). Upon retirement from the Marine Corps I worked for almost a year as an Executive at a Target Distribution Center before resigning to pursue my passion of becoming an Automotive Technician. I was hired by a local tire shop that unfortunately was forced to close a few months after I was hired due the land being sold by the landowner. I was fortunate to secure a position with a local independent shop with a phenomenal reputation shortly after I lost my position at the tire shop.
I learned about this site through an acquaintance I met at Vision last year. I am eager to learn and participate in our automotive community which by the way are among some of the most genuine and caring people I have had the pleasure of meeting. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
Very Respectfully,
John
