Hey Guys,

I have a 2015 hyundai ix35 petrol 2.0L with a timing chain rattle on start up + when driving can hear rattle slapping + sluggish. I replaced the timing chains, no more rattle on start up or driving, however code came back on after 3 drive cycles and its still sluggish. What are things that can cause this code and symptoms? I just want knowledge for future.

An issue with the cam gears (phasers) can cause these symptoms and codes. I have seen certain Hyundai engines shear the alignment pin on the exhaust camshaft for the cam gear and it walk.
Also a problem with oil control valves (VVT solenoids) will cause similar issues.
Other than that, obviously misaligned timing components, or if possible mixing up the cam gears (Intake and exhaust) may cause these problems as well.
