Hello everyone,
My name is Robert Hurley. I currently live in White Sulphur Springs, WV. I have always been a person that loves educating myself and is why I am extremely diversified in multiple fields. Below, you will find a little about myself.
During my junior year in high school, I enlisted into the Army reserves as a personnel management specialist (paper pusher). I also took classes in heating and air conditioning. My senior year I took heating and air conditioning and auto mechanics. After graduating from high school, I finished my advanced training for the military and then went to Houston, Texas to obtain an Occupational Associates Degree in automotive/diesel technology, which I completed in November of 1993. Although I love the automotive field, I just could not find a good enough paying job in the field once I came back home. For the next eleven years, I performed many different jobs that weren't even related to the auto industry. Becoming frustrated with my income and inability to support my family, I decided to obtain my CDL and drive truck all over the country for the next eight years. While driving truck, I decided to also try and get myself another education in a different field and pursued two Associate degrees in criminal justice and information technology. Toward the end of my driving years, I decided to open up my own technology business while I was driving truck, with the help of my wife. She was the face of my business, while I performed many computer and electronic repairs without my customers ever knowing that I was rarely at the office. Technology allowed me to do much of this type of work remotely from the seat of my truck. I decided to give up driving and work my technology business full time, although I did drive truck part time, once a month to help finance my business. Unfortunately, in April of 2012, I was diagnosed with epilepsy and was not allowed to drive truck any longer. Also, in June of 2016, I lost most of my technology business and a large portion of my home to a national disaster (flood). After the flood in 2016, I began hanging out with one of my friends who owned his own auto repair shop. Although I no longer had very many tools, he liked my approach at diagnosing vehicle and we came to a financial agreement that both of us liked. Wanting more education and becoming up to date with the automotive industry, I began researching the web to find what I could, which is how I found ScannerDanner!

Interesting back story Robert, in these times unlike those of our fathers and grandfather most of us seem to have follow a zig-zag path through life, and that is true for a lot of us perhaps the majority on the forum including me. Long term health issues are a bummer particularly when they affect the way you earn a living.
