I hope I won't be ostracized. I am a shadetree mechanic, working exclusively on my own cars:

1) 1987 VW Cabriolet convertible - 78,000 miles; red; my wife's daily driver
2) 1988 Chevrolet C3500 - 180,000 miles; new crate engine (5.7L 350) with 4 speed
3) 1998 Dodge Caravan - 379,000 miles; my daily driver

I'm 56 years old and have been married to my wife for 33 years. And we have 2 college age children. I live in a small town outside Amarillo, TX. I work for a major construction company building renewable energy systems throughout the midwest/west.

I'm not sure I'll be able to assist anyone with their vehicles but with my next post I'll be requesting help on one of my vehicles.
