Thus says the Lord who made the earth, the Lord who formed it to establish it—the Lord is his name: Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.

"..and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known."

Psalm 111:10 The fear/reverence of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.
His praise endures forever.

The Lord (Yehovah) is a "hands on teacher":
We learn as we do - (application, then revelation).

"Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.” John 14:21

I liked that you emphasized do it is certainly not enough to merely know His commands; those that love God will naturally want to please Him and do what He commands.That does not mean that it is always easy, Jesus said that we would have troubles, and plenty of them, but He added that we are to take heart because he has overcome [the World] those troubles.

Likewise James talks about dead faith when he writes, "If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?"
