Merrimack Valley Explosions

Some of you may have heard about the gas line explosions in Lawrence, North Andover and Andover Massachusetts.

This area referred to as the Merrimack Valley is where I work and where my family and I call home. While I am grateful that the extent of our hardship from this disaster has been very minimal (just no gas service since Thursday), there are many people who have lost everything in fires that were left to burn because there was just not enough resources to respond to all of the fires going on at the same time.
Many people will be allowed to return home today for the first time since manditory evacuation went into effect late Thursday. Thousands of people are still without electricity, which was cut off to all three cities in near entirety as a precaution.

For such a dangerous and unpredictable situation, I'm proud of the way my community has come together to help those effected, and exceptionally grateful that there was only one fatality (thoughts and prayers to the family) and that this didn't happen in the dead of winter!

So, I guess what I'm saying is that I'm counting blessings, and am very thankful.

We have been following the events over here , the crazy randomness of it that for no fault of your own your house could explode .......

About 20 years back in village near us three fairly substantial new house were hit by gas explosion in the early morning. The two outer houses still had the the walls standing but the one in the middle just vanished all that was left was the concrete base a whole family wiped out,

You're exactly right, the randomness was perhaps the most alarming part.
It's not like all the the houses on X pipe line had fires or explosions.
Looking at them plotted on a map, there's no discernable pattern to it.

Scary stuff. Glad to hear you and yours were OK. I dunno that my Lawrence would come together the same way. :silly:
