Second best part: Paul using a cordless ratchet. Seriously, I've been thinking he's needed one of those forever! Perfect for all the random fasteners you end up taking off during diagnostics.
I got a Snappy one about a year ago, changed my life.

One of the techs keeps a fake spider around? You know that's gotta be a fun shop to work in

Don't sweat the spider gag, I hate those things! They're everywhere in the junk yard come fall...
Just out of curiosity, what was the reasoning for going after the tps code and not the O2 first? Was there a driveability issues pointing in that direction, or just an ease of access thing?

I think mainly because the O2 code was for the downstream sensor. So that made the TPS code a priority. Second, the customer stated that the truck would not start with that "chip" removed. So again, not worried about the downstream o2 there either.Noah wrote: Just out of curiosity, what was the reasoning for going after the tps code and not the O2 first?

As soon as you fire up the acetylene torch under a car that's been sitting in someone's yard for any period of time, they all start descending down by the hundreds! Took me MANY years to get used to them crawling on my face without losing my cool and just dropping the torch...

This video and the fact the owner got away with not damaging anything inside the ECU made me think of the discussions about the test-light bypass test on 02 sensor circuits. I understand they're not invincible as shown in the recent VW video but its also worth noting that 12V supply into the TPS sensor circuit didn't seem to damage anything.
