Hi there,
I have been helping a friend with a 1992 Daihatsu Charade 1.3 EFI engine with various engine running issues, He happened to mention that he didnt think it had a crankshaft sensor, and low and behold when I looked at the factory Manual it doesnt appear to have one. I know in some way it must use the distributor hall sensor as is not like the Honda's using a seperate sensor inside the distributor. in fact there are very few wires coming from Daihatsu Distributor, My other question is I know on these early distributor EFi engines it was know that some as this Daihatsu you had to short out wires to accurately adjust ignition timing but why when testing the single wire O2 sensor would you also have to short out 2 terminals on the test connector? what effect on the signal would it have if you done the test without shorting out the connector.
Im sure some of you out their have the answer, but I couldn't find almost any info on these at all but im really interested in any experiences with these engines.
