1999 tacoma 2.7 high idle- NO CODES was created by edwinmitchell
High idle with stumbling to point of shut off at times. 99 tacoma 2.7, new internal bearings 40K ago. No codes found. No obvious electrical inconsistencies. I only have hand held scanner and I am on the struggle bus at this point....
IDLE DATA
Fuel syst: CL
ECT: 185
STFT: -4.7
LTFT: -17.2
RPM: 1128
MAF: 0.74 lb/min
B1S1: 0.871
B1S2: 0.105
IAC appears to be functioning properly. 02's ohm out within spec. I am suspecting leaking injector (replaced 40K ago) or contaminated EVAP canister. I am new to this, so any suggestions are greatly appreciated. How can I rule out/confirm EVAP canister issue? Thanks.

I should have clarified- It does bounce rich to lean, but seems to hang out in rich area (.6 to .
a little more than the lean area. I’m going to attach pics of OBD II readings below. I can’t seem to upload a quick video from the iPhone.
Additional info: Since first post the truck has stalled in traffic 4 times on me. It cranks right back up like normal but still hesitates and idles rough at times.

Maybe I have the image size small enough now.

Thanks for the info. I’m no expert either. LOL. Thought I was doing decent until this…. Now I’m second guessing my ability, as I probably should.
Will be Saturday before I can get back into it. I’ll update findings then. So far I feel confident (though I’ve been wrong before) in ECT, purge valve, MAF and fuel pressure regulator (tested them all). I will pressure test injectors and ohm out the O2 B1S1 again. I have noticed issue is worse after sitting all night. Seems to improve (slightly) after driving for 20 minutes or so.

Anything new to report? Did you fix the problem?

Being wrong doesn't bother me, it's being right and not understanding why that does

My apologies for the delayed response. Truck had multiple issues. Here’s what I have found so far:
Sunday-
B1S1 O2 ohms out of spec and replaced.
Slight improvement but nothing notable in trims. Still had varying trims from -15 to -25 total
Monday-
Truck quit again and finally threw code P0121 with CEL. Closely watched and could see there was inconsistencies in TPS readings, not much but some. Guess I missed that in initial diag. Replaced TPS. Truck no longer hesitates or stalls. Fuel trims now good at -5 total.
Today-
Vehicle still idles at 1,000 rpm even after resetting EFI system. Better than 1300-1500 but I’m still not satisfied. Going to drive for a bit to see if ECU still needs time to adjust.
Not sure if I mentioned earlier but IAC seems to be operating properly. Butterfly on TB appears to be seating well at closed throttle.
I couldn’t find the adapter for fuel pressure test. I’m hoping to get to that this weekend if problem is still present.

I failed to mention, checked evap valves, all sealing well in off status. Don’t think evap leak is occurring.
