I am working on a 1992 Toyota Corolla with a 1.6 4a-fe engine. The symptoms are that it will idle good cold or warm but will sputter badly or die when opening throttle unless opened extremely slowly. I have tested the tps "works correctly" I suspect that it is over fueling as new spark plugs are covered in carbon "not oil fouled" after 1 hr of running while trying to diagnose.and it will die with the smallest squirt of carb cleaner into the intake.i have ruled out the cold start injector, the fpr, and fuel return line Can anyone give me directions for testing the distributor components and map sensor? Does anyone have any other ideas?
