Good dayI need some advice on this mini. Came in with a rattle noise from front cover. Removed valve cover and saw that the timing chain guide was broken. We replaced the timing chain and guides. Put it back together and ran fine. Engine light came on right away with code 296b exhaust camshaft sensor. We checked sensor and it looked good. we swapped it with intake sensor but the code didn't follow sensor. checked the solenoid. all good. swapped the solenoid but still the same code. took it apart again to check the timing. timing was right on. bought another timing alignment tool thinking that the first one I bought was not good quality. Aligned it again. still the same. we did adaptation reset. still same code comes up. checked wiring to sensor to make sure no shorts to ground or power. all good there. finally hooked up an oscilloscope to see cam crank signals. compared the capture with 2 that I found online. That's where I'm lost now. to my untrained eye it looks like this car should not run. but it runs good. would appreciate any advice you could give.

Thanks

Those captures all look the same to me. Did you accidentally upload the same one four times?

While my sensor is bank 1 inlet not bank 2. Everything else seems the same. I am now starting to pick up O2 codes. The car starts and runs fine. Can’t smog it check engine light obd2

2008 mini r55 base automatic
I have replaced a list of stuff to get rid of the 2968 code. 2 timing chains, cylinder head, 2 ecu’s direct wired the cam sensor to the ecu.
All the sensors. It was at a specialty race shop that preps Porsches and mini’s for racing for a year, they didn’t figure it out. My car runes pretty good. It starts fine, a bit of hesitation when stepping on the accelerator. Averaging 33mpg. 130k on the car. I have also started to get an O2 sensor code for the pre cat sensor. ( replaced twice). Was there a solution for the 2010 296b code???
