Did you try a relative compression test with an ignition synch? Probably fine if your cam and crank signals matched a known good example.
2.0 or 2.4l in this one?

Ask the customer exactly how deep the coolant gauge needle went into the red before it quit running. :lol:
This is why I appreciate Nissan and Ford sometimes. Like the Altima I saw yesterday, accessory belt fell off, found a P1217 Engine Over Temperature. Good to know!
