2004 Grand Cherokee drive train swap into a 1965 Rambler, no wheel speed signal was created by Scooters
I installed a 2004 Grand Cherokee drive train including PCM, BCM & ABS Module into a 1965 Rambler. The transmission will not go past first gear, because it's not receiving vehicle speed data. I get a good signal from the WSS but not from the ABS Module. I posted a 2 minute video on youtube that explains the problem in detail.
I get no trouble codes related to ABS or brakes. I'm also not 100% sure that I'm connecting the ABS module correctly, since the pin-outs and wire colors in my schematic and module don't match. I don't know if the problem is wiring, bad ABS Module or something else.
Thanks

Sounds like an interesting swap.
Exactly what 04 Grand Cherokee drive train do you have in it? Engine size, AWD, RWD, 4X4 etc.
Regardless, I would suspect that the transmission output speed sensor has more to do with shifting than anything in the ABS system, but I've been wrong before...

The drivetrain is the 4.0L, straight 6 with a 42RE trans and a narrowed Dana-35 dif.
The way I understand it, the wheel speed sensor signals are processed in the ABS module that generates a average vehicle speed. It sends a signal to the PCM that uses that signal with the transmission speed sensor to control the trans.
You can see more on the youtube video I posted. Do a search on "Rambler retro mod"
Thanks

So that's AWD, RWD, 4x4...
Can't look up the service info until I know

Missing VSS might be a problem but I doubt it's the problem. Seen plenty of JTEC/4xRE applications that shifted just fine with no VSS.
You don't even have a missing VSS code in the PCM? P0500 IIRC. Are there any codes setting in the PCM?

Matt:
The schematics and pinout you sent 100% matched my connector - Thanks
I wired it up and it shifts just fine. You would not believe how long I've been messing around using the wrong wiring schematic and trying to make sense out of it.
Very grateful.
Thanks again
