Everyone will have a different opinion on what has worked for them . I use to use Cardone until late I installed 3 faulty ps pumps in a row! I was so tired of doing that job over and over again.... I use bbb now and haven't had a problem but it doesn't mean someone else hasn't!

i am believing more and more a short in these wires is very highly likely what TOOK OUT THE FUEL PUMP DRIVER out of my PCM WHERE THE UNCOATED WIRE WAS WRAPPED ROUND THE OTHER WIRE HAD BARED THE OTHER WIRES IN SPOTS AFTER I GOT IT ALL UNCOVERED

because these wires were so tightlky bound and the 1 wire had no coating it cut through the other 2 wires it was wrapped around and literally rubbed baren spots in the coated wires IM ALMOST POSOTIVE that is what took out the relay which in turn took out the fuel pump driver in the pcm i have redone all wires and rewrapped all wires in all the harnesses

Yes old wires fall apart especially if they have been in contact with oil

That looks like some type of shield wire which would be a ground.
Your fuel pump driver is ground side switched. If that wire was shorted to ground it would NOT hurt the driver. Only a short to power would have done that in this case

Don't be a parts changer!

I agree that is a shield wire. and from what I remember your relay was drawing 2 amps which would be what took out the driver

The relay was drawing 3 amps b4 i switched relays with the trailer brake relay then was a 300 milliamp draw so i replaced that relay with new 1 and with those wires being drenched in oil led me to deeper search which i uncovered and found quite a few wires minus coating so i got an old harness from and old junker 93 f 150 all same wiring dissassembled that harness and cleaned each wire made sure each wire was good and reassembled my connectors with the good wire and sheathed each section then wrapped each sheath with 10 mill vinyl tape and then wrapped again with black electrical tape // allk of this wiring is like factory now and completely sealed from dirt oil and any moisture // here is a couple of pictures of the finished ptroduct//

THIS IS A FIX
