2013 Mitsubishi Outlander has what I believe is the "fast" keyless entry system.

Key brought back to the car lot doesn't fit the "twisty" style ignition with the cover removed to turn it unless there's something keeping the ignition locked such as security lockout or something?

The wireless remote that was given to me transmits the transponder data and the remote data when tested with remote & transponder verification tooling.

I personally haven't dealt with Mitsubishi & this type of remote, ignition (not push to start) system before.

The ignition has a removable plastic cap and from what I've been able to read so far it is used to use the emergency key with key inserted into the ignition and the head of the key inserted into the remote that has transponder in it backwards.

Basic backup system if I must say.

I'm having trouble communicating with the vehicle via the OBDII port. Has anyone every had a dead battery with a boost pack to provide power and been able to access or know a way around so I can I'm guessing "wake" the system to communicate.

Side Note; This vehicle is from a "buy here pay here" used car lot. HE had a father & son that rented one of the shops on his multi shop property. They used but also did work to the vehicle. .
The used car dealersaid the duo was on their way back from Louisiana and had something leaking. They trailered it the rest of the way.

Apparently they owed the owner back rent that never came and after not getting it for to long from the sounds of it whatever the time was he asked them to leave.

They left but as they were leaving all packed up he asked for the key and the mechanic from the shop said they had it packed away in a tub as it was with a bunch of stuff so he asked that they drop it later.

A month later thee dropped the remote by. Key or remote didn't work so owner replaced the battery in the remote but it didn't work.

A few weeks later I stopped in and now this is my mess to fix.

Hooked jumper battery up. Dash light light up saying something to the effect of no key or no key inserted if I recall correctly. The emergency key don't turn the drivers door, ignition and the door lock button on door handle don't work either.

Alarm sounds for 5 minutes, goes out, stays out unless you close or open door triggering the door switch in the door then alarm will sound again for 5 minutes.

This was just a quick going over of the vehicle back on Monday when I stopped and looked at it on my way thru the area.

Any and all help is appreciated. I do have wiring diagrams sitting in my printer tray to scan over before I head out later today to head over that way.

I will try to Lishi the ignition or see if it has a door key code as I can generally decode and move forward some but without scanning I may have to bypass wiring I'm thinking to get some diagnostics, diagnostic codes done on it.

If the security/alarm horn is blaring then we know that part is good or part of it at least.

IF I had to guess the mileage is in the 150-170k miles range.
