According to the videos I've watched to clean the throttle body you take it off the motor and do it like that. I bought some b-12 chemtool carb. etc cleaner
and according to the cans directions for throttle body it says to take the air intake off , start the car and spray in throttle body in short bursts and that'll do. Soooo , whats going to work ?

I would not follow the directions on the can. I don't like spraying liquids into electronic throttle bodies, especially ones that are 20 years old. :silly:

I would leave the throttle installed on the intake and manually swab the bore with a shop rag wetted with the B12. Unplug the throttle body before doing any cleaning, and reconnect it afterwards. Removing the throttle would be fine, too.

ok so I took the cover thats by the throttle body off. Should that thing have oil in it? I don't feel real confident enuff to take the t.body off. You think its ok to clean it with it on PLUS I cannot get the damm plugs off. What say you?

You mean the intake resonator has oil in it?

Not unusual, IMO. The fresh air side of the PCV system runs through that box. That's the rubber hose on the bottom side:

Make sure that hose goes back on the valve cover when you put it all back together. ;) It's easy to miss.

It'd be better to have the throttle disconnected during cleaning, but it's not a deal breaker. Just make sure the key is off. It's also going to have a high idle when you get done. Give it plenty of time to adjust.

You mean the main connector for the throttle body? There's a weatherpack seal inside that you may be fighting. Are you sure you got the CPA disengaged? That's the white part of the connector:

The CPA needs to be as pictured above to get the connector to unlatch.

Please do! We always love follow up around here. B) I only include the hose thing because I've done it before. And seen other techs do the same.
