16 volts on a lambda sensor ??? was created by Hardtopdr2
2016 Hyundai Elantra 4cyl has a starting /drivability complaint that I could not replicate today but while I was driving it captured data and noticed the lambda sensor volts actual was sporadically going to 16 volts when disired/required should be one volt. The rest of the time it's 1 volt or less matching disired/required. Any ideas on this one???

Did these events happen arbitrarily or were they following a pattern? Could you verify these spikes actually with a scope or did you only see see them in the processed data. Is there a chance this being part of internal circuit integrity testing by the ecm?

From viewing the data graphs from the test drive commanded lambda would very from .5 to 1.0 and actual would initially match commanded but periodically spike to 16 volts and progressively become more frequent as I drove the car. It would not make a decernable pattern or follow throttle motion or acceleration/ or decel to where fuel cut would happen. It would be at 1 volt or less matching commanded but go straight up to 16 with no gradient to the climb. Even battery voltage with alternator charging only went to 14.7 volts.

The sensor in question is B1S1, isn't it? If so, is this a wideband sensor? Did you happen to see this spike only on the manufacturer side or in generic OBD2 as well? A commanded lambda of 0.5 looks very strange, to say the least.

Did you notice this during the test drive or after the fact using Shop Stream Connect?
As you noticed before with that diesel Ford pulling 500gps on the MAF Shop Stream is known to misrepresent the decimal point in recorded data.

Could I get a look at that scan data file?
Like Noah said, SSC *is* known to lie.
