Mr. Danner.
I have a 2001 Lexus GS300 with a 2JZ engine. Had my battery tested. It tested good. Checked the alternator. It checked out okay. With engine running with no load it reads 14.6 on the multimeter. My issue. My wife drives it about 35 miles, and she calls me. She said the radio was going on and off. Then she said all the lights on the dash came on VSC, VSC off, driver side air bag light, etc., etc. But, no CEL. Then the car seemed to lose power and it eventually died in a parking lot. Cart before the horse. Sorry. I had the battery tested, and checked the alternator after she had this issue. I went to her and jump started the car and drove it back home. by the time I got back home (35 miles) it had all the same symptoms my wife had experienced. The battery is good. The alternator is charging the battery. Can you help me with this issue sir? Thank you in advance for helping me with this. BTW I spoke to you on the phone a while back, and we figured out that we are no relation to each other. Also, I am a Steelers fan.

I just went through something similar on my Honda, it could be as simple as a loose battery terminal. I would start by making sure they are clean and tight.

Thanks for that reply Working Man. I cleaned the battery posts and the cable ends. Interesting thing. I tried to crank it yesterday, and no luck. I jump started it and let it run for fifteen minutes. It cranked right up and it sounded like it had a new battery in it. I let it idle for a long time. After two hours I drove it down the road a couple of miles and back, and it ran fine. I let it continue to idle. After about an hour checked on it and it was still running fine. Went back thirty minutes later and it had stopped running. Tried to crank it. No luck. Sounded like a dead battery. One crank over and clicks. Checked battery voltage. It showed 12.4 volts. Would appreciate any new suggestions from everyone.

How far can you trace the battery cables? somewhat exposed? Next time you get it to click instead of starting, wiggle the cables a little. You might get lucky and find the weak spot, or to rule out ground cable use jumper cables, one end on battery ground other on engine, if no luck, voltage drop test needed

An interesting thing. Lexy wouldn't start yesterday. Decided to put multimeter on battery to check voltage. Voltage read 10.4, but I left multimeter on battery. BTW cables were still connected. I noticed after 3 or 4 seconds the voltage started to go up in increments of .1 volts. Kept multimeter on battery and the voltage continue to climb slowly by .1 volt. I disconnected the battery cables and tested just the battery. No voltage climb. Any thoughts? Any help with this is greatly appreciated.
