I'm a newbie...love my Odyssey and have no experience working on cars. I do have tools, desire, patience and coordination...plus I learn quick. I lost the bottom part of my heat shield a month or two ago. Now catalytic converter is kinda hanging and my car is sputtering. What do I do? I HAVE TO do it myself as I have no extra funds to consider other options.

Could you post a picture of what is hanging? Or send it to me and I'll post it. wrenchturnsyou@gmail.com

That'd give us a better idea of what it'll take to fix it.

You said sputtering - do you mean it has more exhaust noise? Or does it actually run poorly? Is the check engine light on?

Probably the famous "disappearing nuts trick" off the three bolt flange.
I fix those pretty regularly and to be honest, I couldn't do it in my driveway...
Another option, depending on the emission requirements for inspection in your state, would be too trade the catalytic converter that's falling off anyway to a shop in exchange for welding in a section of pipe.
The cat has got to be worth a couple hundred dollars.
I would go for that!
