I bought an Outback that was in a minor crash that set off LH seat and front Airbags. Replaced all and had SRS module flashed. However, still have SRS codes with new module and new equipment. At first it was just B1872: Short in Front Seat Cushion Airbag (to Ground), with a DTC Status : history on my CR629 Launch tool. I thought great, since it's in history, I can just clear it. No luck, clearing shows success but code is still present. Then, as a sanity check, I unplugged the side airbag harness to force a new SRS code and sure enough, I got B1821: Open in Side Airbag RH. But the weird thing is that it still shows DTC status as history. I plugged the harness back in, cleared the code, and now I have both of these SRS codes in there that are not clearing up. I'm using the latest update on the Launch tool. I even put in a 2.2 Ohm resistor into the seat harness to simulate the airbag, and the codes still wont clear. Any ideas?
might want to find out if it has a secure gateway. with the 2019 and up Dodge/Chryslers and a few other makes have locked down the system to prevent people from clearing codes and reprograming modules for tuning out a misfire etc. if that is the case then you will need to setup a security credential with their approved site and load in your scanner info that is capable of security gateway protocols/certification verification. in my case i had to setup a credential with
www.autoauth.com
and enter scanner serial number and shop info and pay for a year of access.
