I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee sport 4.0 It will crank but no spark. I have replaced cps, distributor cap, rotor button, ignition coil, ignition, plugs, plug wires, temp sensor, intake sensor, asd relay, ignition relay, speed sensor, and a new alternator. I was having a long crank issue. The process was turn the key over but not to crank- the check engine light and gen light would come on fuel pump would run 5-10 second shut off the CE light and gen light goes off fires right up. Then it the CE light and gen light stared flickering and then I would have to cycle the key until those lights became solid and then it would start. It started to take longer and longer. Well the gen light came on and alternator went out. I put a new alternator on it. Fired right up and and the next morning I went to start it turned over but did not crank. The check engine light or gen light will not come on when I turn the key to crank it and the fuel pump continually runs. What controls the gen ligh and check engine light? The seat belt ligh comes on but that’s the only light. They will not come on at all ans now I have no spark. I knew is i could get the check engine light to come on and the gen light it would start but now nothing I’m at a lost please help.
