Car running, clear codes engine dies was created by geno.jr
Hey guy, 2007 impala 3.5 in reduced power mode. I acquired the car and someone fired the parts cannon at it, new pcm, throttle body and exposed harnesses everywhere. Have P0107 circuit low voltage MAP, circuit low voltage P0452, P0523 engine oil pressure circuit low voltage, P0532 ac pressure sensor circuit low voltage. Visual inspection no obvious harness damage. Run live data on map and wiggle connector, it started reading. I hold wire against connector to keep it reading and clear codes, engine dies soon as I hit "ok " to clear codes. Repeated twice to rule out a fluke. Picking up a pigtail for map and diving deeper in a little bit here. I never heard of this before, any insight???? Thanks guys!

I've seen older Fords stall if you connected the scan tool with the engine running. But not during a code clear.
On a WAG, I'd suspect it has something to do with the PCM's backup strategy with the MAP code. I wouldn't get too excited until you get the various sensor codes to stay away.

I'm on the car now. No 5 volts on the map. Starting the diagnosis process now. WS just curious if anyone seen the car die like that before. I'll post my findings.

if i remember correctly there was a tsb for a intermiittent loss of 5 volt reference to multiple sensors due to leaking power steering line/pump and dissolving the wiring behind the power steering pump on the cam sensor. Have to remove p/s pump to inspect wiring. Hope this helps.

Imagine that, that's exactly what I found! It looked wet there and seen someone connected the harness the cam sensor connector comes from with a zip tie. The insulation on the cam sensor wires looked crusty, wiggled it and 5v came back on MAP. Pulled P.S. pump and low and behold exposed wires at the sensor connector. You nailed it buddy! Oddly I didn't see that tsb on Mitchell 1diy.

Cam sensor wires are exposed at the sensor connector. Ordering a pigtail. 5v came back after unplugging it. I suspect it's fixed after I install the pigtail, if not I'll post back. Had no cam related codes either.

Well had a few more gremlins to chase. Everything is good now no CEL no codes. Strangely enough it died on clearing the last code lol.
