My dads 09 Chevy 2500 hd Duramax 6 speed allison is stuck in 3rd gear and the code says selenoid b stuck open.  Ive been learning on here but I cant figure it out. He wants to take it to a stealership but i think they will change the tcm and transmission and still have the same problem.  can you recommend a good diag shop in houston area?

have you checked the fluid color and condition? Any other codes? I have seen multiple TCM failures on these trucks, additionally the internal pressure switch can go bad causing codes like this.
