Along with my battery drain issue that I have in anther post I have a P0300 coming up occasionally. I have checked several things in the ignition and decided to do an injector balance test since there is a Schrader in this 2007 Equinox 3.4 but after the Solus runs the fuel pump when I go to the next step to fire the injector I get an error saying "Fuel Enable Flag not set for Theft Deterrent System"

I searched all over and can't find out if it's just not possible to run an injector balance test on this car or if there is something that I need to do in order to enable it. I went through all of the functional tests that I can find, the Theft Deterrent module included and I don't see any way that I can enable that flag. I've scanned the vehicle and there are no current codes, of course I'd be seeing the MIL if there were. It starts and runs, albeit the occasional misfire.

Has anyone else ran across this, and is there a fix for it?

Thanks,
Gary

I have! On injector balance tests, and other bidirectional output controls.

How's the battery voltage during testing? The first time I saw this error, I decided to take a gamble that the PCM was seeing low voltage and aborting the test (after getting frustrated and trying other scanners). Hooking up a jump pack got the voltage high enough to satisfy the PCM, and I was able to run the test.

I may be way off here, but give it a try! :cheer:

I will most certainly give that a shot and report back... if you've seen my posts about the battery drain issue it makes sense. I've been seeing it below 12V on startup quite often.

I drove it a while and got the battery charged some and tried again with the battery voltage at 12.2, still won't run the injector balance test, I hooked it up to my TOYOTA (take that GM!) with jumper cables, tried again with the battery at 12.4 Volts, still no-go, started the Toyota and tried once more with the battery voltage showing 14.4, still no joy. I wish I knew what was up with this thing... now the passenger air bag won't turn on when someone is sitting in the seat. This thing seems cursed!

Currently it is running ok, I did a secondary ignition check with a capacitive cable like Paul did in a video in the Case Studies, seemed like the class was in maybe the second day. Looked pretty good, I didn't see much hash on snap throttle at all, I did a cylinder drop test with a test light, good spark and each cylinder seemed to be contributing ok.

I can't really check it out until it's more constantly misfiring. Haven't seen another P0300 yet, running down the road and watching the misfire monitors on the Solus, looked good, only got 1 misfire on Cylinder 1 and two on Cylinder 5 upon accelerating up to speed from shoulder where I stopped to reset the scan tool from watching fuel trims to misfire monitors, no more after that, drove it about 30 minutes. LTFT is 11 to 12 though, don't like that. I'm gonna take some readings on the frequency and grams/sec then clean the MAF sensor, recheck those readings and see what the LTFT looks like.

Crap, sorry that didn't work sir. :( I'm out of quick/easy ideas now.

Waiting for the symptom to come to you sucks, but you're way better off that way. Maybe keep an eye on the history misfires? See which one counts up.
