Hi all,

I recently purchased a picoscope 2205A and a Hantek current clam with the intention of diagnosing a problem I have. I have a 99 Chevy Motorhome with a 7.4 with a dead miss on cylinder 6. I'm fairly sure it's a fuel injector, but I wanted to prove it. Unfortunately, the injectors are under the plenum so I had to connect the amp clamp to the control wire at the harness about 10 inches from the injector itself. I was unable to get a good waveform. I got a waveform, but it looked nothing like I would expect.

My question is, when scoping a current waveform on a fuel injector, do you need to be very close to the injector itself? If not, is this just user error/ the nut behind the scope?

Any help would be appreciated.

Post a picture of your waveform and your setup and we can help with how to improve it

If it's broken it won't look normal. Best to practice on one of the good injectors first. If you've got an attenuator test voltage as well.

With a current clamp it shouldn't matter where it goes on the 12v feed wire check your scope is to work on DC signal
