I have a 95 f 150 4.9 I6. Roughly a year ago, while driving it, the motor died on me a few times as if i hit a kill switch. I never lost electric power, just motor shut off. I would let it sit for 5-10 minutes and it would start. Well the most recent time it happened, it did not start. I’ve replaced the ICM, coil, distributor, cap, rotor, spark plugs, wires, stator, battery, engine temp sensor, air charge sensor, and it still will not start. I’ve checked for spark, which i have, i checked for fuel which i have, and i checked compression and it all checks out good. I checked the timing and that is good. I pulled the computer and all of the capacitors look good.

When i replaced the distributor, it’ started right up and ran for 5-10 minutes perfectly and then it shut off and hasn’t started since. I’m at a loss right now and have no idea where to look next.

I would recheck those basics. You have to be missing air, fuel, spark, or compression if it won't start. What is your fuel pressure? How exactly are you checking for spark?

The first thing that I would do is watch every minute of this video and do all of these tests ( including making sure that the distro is spinning ).

I know that you already checked a lot of this, but you are probably dealing with an intermittent failure ( which means you have to check the basics over and over again during the failed state ).

It could be a case of an intermittent wiring connection between the distro and the spark switching module. If you do all of the tests in the video it will tell you ( and us ) a lot.

Considering age of truck i suggest you pull the pcm out (drivers side firewall under brake booster. And take the cover off check the three 47 uf capacitors for leakage and discoloration of circuit board. If it has issues that would need to be replaced. One way to confirm it is put a fuel pressure gauge on it and see if pump pressure dies off when engine is running and dies
