2013 Jeep Wrangler 3.6 (P0369) was created by BLEE
Hello,

Working on a 2013 Jeep Wrangler with the 3.6 engine & I keep getting an intermittent P0369 (camshaft position sensor intermittent--Bank 1 Sensor 2).
It only seems to happen at highway speeds randomly. I hooked up an oscilloscope and the waveform looked normal along with its wire integrity. Oil level and viscosity is good as well. This vehicle does have VVT. It only seems to happen when towing a trailer too. I also get a C121C (torque request signal denied)

Has anyone seen this issue before? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Brian

I have not encountered that problem before, however I’ve grown to become quite familiar with that 3.6 engine, as I’ve been working on one in a 2014 Challenger periodically over the past many months. I checked the service data, and this is the code setting criteria for P0369:

When Monitored and Set Conditions

When Monitored:
This diagnostic runs continuously with the engine cranking and with the engine running.

Set Conditions:
At least five seconds or 2.5 engine revolutions have elapsed with Crankshaft Position Sensor signals present but no camshaft position sensor signal.

You said that you hooked up an oscilloscope, but did you monitor/record the signal at highway speeds, when it occurs? That would seem to be the best way to see the signal drop out.

You could swap the in question cam sensor from that bank to the other bank see if code follows. If it does replace the sensor. If not well atleast you know it’s not the sensor . Check terminals to in the connector

The individual that has the car already put a new camshaft position sensor in it and it still does the same thing. I will hook up my O-scope and take it for a test drive under load and see what results I get.

Thank you for the help!

They probably put the cheapest autozone part they could buy. But yea I’d clear the code put your scope up to all the cam and crank sensors wait til the cel triggers and look at what happens. On your scope

I didn't hook up the oscilloscope but I did do a driveability test with the scan tool data showing desired and actual position. It was out of range only pulling rpms up a hill or towing.
