Hey guys, got a 2006 Ram 3500 with the 5.9 in it. Been chasing a gremlin for a while now. The PRNDL indicator is erratic, it’s hit and miss with what gears it’ll show. Also getting the “Out of Park” horn honking and all. Got good voltage at both batteries, transmission range sensor shows proper voltage at each gear telling us the insulator on the rooster comb is good as well as the range sensor. Unfortunately electrical isn’t my forte. Any help is appreciated! Thanks

Try replacing the range sensor on the transmission - its a $30 at the local parts store and $20 on AMazon or Rockauto - Standard Ignition NS223 I believe. Get under car and put you hand on it - it should NOT be loose - if it is - the threaded bung that it attaches too is loose - you have to tighten the lock ring to get the adapter tight before you replace the switch . If the switch is loose just try tightening up the adapter and replacing the old switch. If it is either not loose or not behaving after tightening up the old switch - just replace it ..have a pan ready to catch the oil. Tighten the lock ring with a screwdriver and hammer ( or use the Dodge proprietary lock ring tool ) - hope this helps -
