FIXED 99 Durango

My 99 Durango, 157,000ish, is a no crank, no start. Since issue started: New battery. Replaced ignition switch with one from the pull and pay. Bypassed the relay and started right up, but still no crank no start with the key. Issue: Leaving for work early 2020, snowy day and it wouldn't start. Tried roadside for a jump and nothing. Tried new battery first. Still no crank no start, but the horn would honk when I would crank. I removed the horn fuse so I could continue to troubleshoot without bugging neighbors. Only thing I really did is replace the ignition switch with a used one. Other than new battery and bypass the relay. I'm just a level 0 do it yourselfer. I probably could have made this message shorter. I need help! Thank you in advance!

Well done with the relay bypass. That answers a lot of questions about the starter and electrical system. Have you tried cranking the engine with the shifter in Neutral instead of Park?

Replacing lock cylinder with a used or new one you may need to do a anti theft relearn.

Thank you!Yes I have tried to crank in neutral. I will again to double check. Keyless entry works. Almost replaced the starter before bypassing the relay.

I can't remember if the ignition switch had the lock cylinder. Fuck I'm stupid. How do I do the antitheft relearn?

If you have access to service info it will tell you. Ie Mitchell or alldata see below. I would recommend you do the 30 min relearn as my experience is the short one never works.

Thank you! I will have to try! Did you mean the door lock cylinder or the ignition lock cylinder? Just curious!

Ignition lock cylinder as some vehicles have a rfid chip or incoded key that sends a signal to bcm to say ok to crank engine and start vehicle. Do you have a anti theft light flashing?

Not in the dashboard lights, but there is what looks like an auxiliary port, headphone port, with a red light that sits just under and to the right of steering wheel. I'm not sure if that is stock or aftermarket. That light flashes all the time. I read somewhere that the blinking led is also a button.

No idea what that is. I would follow the wires and see if it was tapped into the dlc or obd port if so that might be the issue but i kinda doubt it.

That thing looks like it might be an aftermarket immobilizer that requires something plugged into it.

Just follow the wires going from it to under the dash. 2 wires from immobilizer will be connected to the start signal wire. Just get pics of what the wires connect to and we can walk you through removing it.

I will have to do it tomorrow! Is there anything you or anyone else can tell me about this damn thing?

I wouldn't give that little thing much of my attention.

Like mentioned before, follow the wires, see where it goes. If there's a black box like for a remote start or alarm, unplug it.
