He reports that the wipers stopped working, he discovered 30a wiper fuse blown. He put in another fuse, turned wipers on, and he said fuse immediately blew again.
I told him I would have a quick look during my lunch hour today. I figured I would see if the motor was the problem, so I removed the cowling and unplugged the motor and using a Powerprobe I applied power and ground to the RUN and GROUND pins on the motor and the motor ran. I had a Load Pro lying around (I know, I know, but hear me out) so I back-probed the RUN and GROUND wires on the connector and measured battery voltage on the unloaded circuit, and did find a 1V voltage drop on the positive side of the loaded circuit. That was a bit concerning but I thought I would try to gather more info.
I then reconnected the motor, and put in yet another 30 amp fuse to attempt to see if I could find out what particular setting(s) might cause the fuse to blow. The fuse did not blow for me. Wipers ran fine on regular and fast speeds. I did notice when I turned the switch to OFF that the wipers would not park. They would just stop wherever they were when the switch was turned off. I also noticed that Intermittent mode worked, well, only intermittently. Intermittent would work for a couple strokes, then then wipers would just stop. They would start moving again if I switched to LO or HIGH (non intermittent) mode. I never could get the fuse to blow.
I will continue looking at that car tomorrow.
Any ideas on where I should go from here would be, as always, appreciated!
