Trying to figure out how to properly test the charging system. The PCM has a GEN FLD SRE and a GEN FLD DVR that go to the Alternator when I run 12 V two connector 2 which is theGEN FLD SRE the alternator starts charging. I know we’re supposed to have a pulse signal but the other one has ground. Is it supposed to have ground Or am I short to ground? Would like a little better explanation of what I’m supposed to be seeing I want to call a computer but want to make sure I test properly

The pic gets blurry when i try to zoom in on it.
If your appling 12 volts to the dark green black wire in the diagram. where exactly are you appling power? Pcm connector or at alternator?
Since i cant make out what pin it goes to at trans relay not sure if that tells me pcm is good in sending signal to alternator or not or if it is the trans relay that feeds that power when turn on.
you should load test wire with a 4 amp bulb and test transmission relay to see if it is activating and if it is good. If those are good then follow circuit further in the diagram. Dont forget to check splice 134?? Since its a connection between pcm and alternator.

I apologize for the blurry pic. My adding 12v was at the pcm connector 3 pin 25. If the trans relay supplies power there i need to further test. I was not thinking about that. What should i see on the other green wire if you dont mind me asking?

SRE appears to be SouRcE so it should have constant battery voltage on it Key On. Finding out why it doesn't is definitely the first step. Guessing it's fed by the PCM and supplies power to generator field and transmission relay coil.
Regards the DRV being grounded was that confirmed with a test light or is it just a 0v ish reading with a DMM? Also if it was taken with the engine running the PCM may have been commanding full field.

I hope i didnt pull the trigger to soon but after looking at the diagram i see that the power from this wire should come from pcm not the trans or asd relay. I have a M/T . I told the guy he needed a PCM hopefully it doent bite me haha. I checked the wires for opens or short to ground and short to power. They looked good and made the call. I do thank you for your help! This is an great page !

Did you check powers and grounds and 5 v ref for/from/to pcm? Does vehicle start and run?
Concidering that sre circuit is supplied by pcm is why i am asking. If powers and grounds are good then i believe you made the right call
