I have the 5 wire egr, everyones seem em, so with the harness unplugged from the valve, key on I'm getting 12v on the solenoid wire, when I plug it back in the voltage drops to 0v. (ie the closed valve code I'm assuming.) I have my 5v reference and ground are good. getting .72v on signal wire but nothing higher, if I rev the engine I get no signal that the valve is opening. So I'm wondering why do I lose the 12v control when I plug the harness back in. The valve has been replaced. Just to see whats up, I plugged in the old valve to see if it would open also, and no go. Am I losing the 12v in the ecm for some reason. Obviously the valve is ok. Just the 12v coming and going with it plugged in or not. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
do you have a bi directional scanner to control the valve?? also id jump the 5 volt wire to the signal wire and see if the signal reads 5 volts. also I would use a test light to test the ground so it loads the circuit some. but you may have done that already.it wasn't mentioned.
I have tested the reference circuit by pushing the valve open and getting the signal wire to respond. I think its a relearn issue with the ecm. the closed voltage signal was .72v and I think the ecm is programmed to see about .5v for a seated position. everything looks ok as for voltage and grounds. I think because its just a matter of resetting the ecm and letting it relearn the new valve being closed. gonna give it a shot tomorrow. let ya know what I find. Its an interesting issue for sure.
