Oil pressure issues was created by Partsandservice
I am dealing with a oil pressure on a issue on a cat 6.6 teir 4i engine. The oil pressure reads 34 psi constantly engine on or off. I have 5v and ground. Also have 1.66 v in the signal wire, engine running or not. When I first started the oil pressure switch had oil pushing through it and into wire connector. I first replaced the sensor but the issue remains. With the sensor unplugged I have around 11 v on the signal wire. Any advice or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks

Not familiar with catapillar but that sounds like you need to chase the wiring to see if it's shorting or grounding to another wire all the way back to the ecu.

So are you suggesting that the signal wire may shorted to high source in the harness? I believe I should have 5volts on the signal wire with it unplugged from the sensor. Hope it not an ECU problem. I am new to this forum and may have duplicated this last posted. It is a 24v system.

That is what I am suggesting but better to inspect all wires from sensor back to ecu and ground wire as well. Just to be safe.

Got it figured out this morning, someone previous had the signal wire and 5v reference wires swapped in the plug. 5v reference should have been pin 1 and signal wire should have been pin 3. Works as it should. Thanks for the help.
