Dies at will. was created by Benoitjos52
1993 f150 5.0l e40d. 167,000 miles. Have been dealing with this for awhile now. Can be sitting at light or just go out to truck and cranks no start. Have replaced distributer, coil, icm, ignition starter switch. Have been blowing I'm about every 5 months. Last Friday died on me in traffic. Replaced I'm as usual. Crank not start. Tow to shop they had it 2 days starts and runs fine. Pick up on Tuesday. Make it 1/4 mile from shop dies like someone turned off key. Cranks no start.. Get started after awhile and walk away 15 ft. Dies. Call tow truck. Take to another shop. Starts and runs. Have for two days and they say they drove total 30 miles and no issue. I get it today and 2 miles later dies crank no start. Back to shop off truck and it starts for them. Help please.

You will have to figure out what actually stops working when the truck shuts off and won't restart....
Do you have spark, do you have injection pulse? Do you have a valid ckp signal, does the fuel pump run etc...
What TESTING has been done so far? Remember, this kind of problem may well be heat and/or vibration related.

Test the fuel pump relay and look for green crusties on terminals. Might as well look at all of the ones mounted under hood on drivers side. and check the fuseable links on pass side fender for voltage drop. One other thing is check tps sensor for drop outs or shorts and 5 volt ref

I have checked the power Relay and fuel pump relay for crustier. None. At the moment the shop has truck again, and I don't what tests have been run do to the fact it did not act up on them even though they say they drove it. I pick from them drove it Max 2 mile and does it again. As soon as it gets off tow truck the went to get scanner or what ever and it starts for them. Still at shop so hopefully it acts up this Monday.
