I have a 1992 Mazda Miata with the I4 1.6 engine. It has a vacuum actuated cruise control unit. I have checked the actuator and everything seems to be plugged in correctly. when i enable cruise control the light on the dash comes on, but when i try to set or resume, nothing happens. If there is anyone familiar with these old school vacuum operated cruise control units, i would like to know where to start the diagnostic process.

Check if there are any fault codes in the control module. See attached for instructions and codes. Have the test light be a 1.4 watt bulb. Control Unit is located above the fuse panel.
