2007 Subaru wrx no communication/link at OBD2 was created by Tom06611
Snapon solus ultra picks up airbag and ABS codes; however, there is no communication with the engine and transmission modules. There is no check engine light and the fuel, temp, speedo, tach, gauges don't cycle full scale when ignition switch is turned to start. The engine cranks and doesn't start. The ECU was relaced/cloned becase of salt water damage. The battery was replaced and fuses check ok. There is no sign of water in the engine oil, or gear box. I need to get an inspection to register the "salvage" vehicle in CT; however, the VIN does not come out at the OBD2 connector. I sprayed the connectors with electrical cleaner and inspected the wiring for opens/ grounds. I need "professional" help in diagnosing/troubleshooting the problem. I'm thinking of towing it to the local Subaru dealer for service; however, I am not sure if that is my best option. Can anybody recommend a shop in CT for this repair?

Being a turbo, this has a manual transmission, correct? So no comm with the trans is to be expected.
The ECM, airbag and ABS all share the same single wire network. Because you can communicate with the ABS and airbag, that means no network issues. Now you're down to checking powers/grounds and network voltage at the ECM itself. If those check out, I'd suspect something wrong with the replacement ECM.

Yes, 5spd manual transmission. I'm in the process of checking power and ground to the ECU; I saw the k-line signal, on OBD2 PIN 7, with the PicoScope. I checked with Karman Auto concerning the ECU; Bogdan was able to read the eprom directly, grab the VIN and immobilizer info on the damaged ECU, and make the transfer to the clone. I got the used ECU on eBay with the same part number as the original, 22611AM420; Karman Auto also suggested checking the wiring and the ECU by connecting the scanner on bench with power, ground, and CAN lines. I'll be spending so time with a multi-meter and breakout box to check power, grounds and wiring. Thank you for ECU pinout with the corresponding voltage.
