New CVT with a whine was created by Tutti57
I bought a 2014 versa note from a customer for $150 because it had a bad CVT. I bought a new transmission from work and put it in and it is whining pretty loudly, gets louder with RPM. Does it in all positions, park, drive, etc. I did all of the additional work needed when installing it like tcm programming, clutch point learning, fluid level check at 95-113*.

I double checked the fluid level last night and it is ok. Like most people, I am no good with transmission issues. What could cause a whine besides low fluid and airation from being overfilled? A bad bearing? It is a new (reman) transmission.

A few times from a stop there was a strong vibration felt from a stop while it was starting to accelerate that I didn't like.

No chance it's a belt drive accessory? You can always pull the belt and see if the noise remains.

Would it be worth pulling the trans pan to see if there's metal on the magnets?

I was hoping it was but it really sounds like it's coming from the transmission.

One of our CVT specialists said he would take a listen to it tomorrow but I don't know if I want to drive it in 25 miles.

I'm heading to one of our training centers tomorrow for some obd2 training and will probably be able to talk to them there about it but I'm doing to be pissed if I have to put another one in.

Ha it should be ok. I've never seen this before and while I don't do transmissions often, we have two guys who do them all the time and this seems odd. The good news is that the engines on both of these cars are bullet proof. I've never seen anyone replace one. We always say the engines will replace the transmissions, even the trans that we've replaced, ha.

I might find out the answer to that warranty question tomorrow too after I let my parts manager hear that sound...
