Any tips for how to remove the connector from the injector? Theres a green lock tab that i slid up, tried removing the connector, no luck... see that theres also two blue lock tabs on side of actual connector, lifted those up. Sill not coming off. Any advice before i emd up breaking a piece of the connector?

All mitchell says is * remove fuel injector connector......*

Sounds like you're doing it correctly, sir. Green tab pulls up, pinch the connector to unlock it from the injector, should slide off. The blue thing is just there to retain the weatherpack in the connector.

You may try either removing the green tab completely, or getting a small pick into the connector to manually pry up the lock tab. Gently, of course!

Thanks man I finally got it off. Do you know if I can use some other material for the pintel cap? I really don't want to spend 50 bucks on a fuel injector just to get the dust cap ( current one is cracked)

No problem, sir! What was the trick?

That dust cap, is it at the intake end of the injector, as seen here?

If you can get the injector back in and still have the O-ring sealing, then you might be OK?

Yep that's it right there. I managed to get it back in. hopefully nothing will come of it. As far as the connector all that was needed was a little Force. Seemed like I was on the verge of breaking the thing.

Some of those little connecters can be tricky.
I used to have a hard time with the VW ones.

They're not that bad now that I understand how they work.
Poke a pocket screw driver in the notch and rotate. :Click!:

Guys. This might seem like an extremely silly question but is coolant supposed to come pouring out of the cylinder heads on a 3.1 engine as your unbolting? Unless there was some sort of issue going on there i had never experienced this before on some of the 4 cylinder fords ive worked on. I've seen a video or two now of the same thing of someone working on a 3.1 and coolant comes pouring out when they lift the heads up

No such thing as a stupid question.
Yes, especially if the coolant hasn't been drained, you will see some spillage

The coolant was drained. When i did front cyl head I noticed no leakage as i unbolted, no leakage when removing. Rear head , half way through unbolting lots of coolant starting gushing out from between the block and and head. With oil mixed in water passages (inside rear passages on block). This engine has had a coolant consumption issue for a while with leaking from rear from time to time . all i can see is that theres a tear in the coolant jacket port of the intake manifold that may have allowed coolant to escape into combustion chamber. How else could oil have gotten mixed in there btw without ever haven contaminated everything else? ( no milky stuff in pan radiator or reservoir tank)

The coolant gushing out like that isn't unusual, even if you drained the system. I just took the heads off a V8 yesterday, drained all the coolant out that I could, and still made a mess when the heads came off.

Are you sure it's not just Dex Cool residue? 'Cause that happens all the time, especially on this generation of GM V6. Maybe consider a switch to good ol' green coolant if you haven't already.
