Ford Ranger
VIN: 6FPPXXMJ2PGK77407
Europe Specifications

Here is an issue which I need help on how to resolve this.
I don’t know it if is electrical or mechanical, car came from other shop, new TCM was replaced, yet problem still exist.
The problem the car has is, while driving, sometime for hours then you will notice on the instrument panel that the gear indicator will shift from D to Sport mode. Sometimes in short distant you will see this change on the panel that it has move from D to Sport mode, when you stop it won’t go back to D, you have to turn engine off and turn it on. There is no DTC record too, another shop had valve body changed but problem still exist, in fact it is intermittent problem and owner want to get this correct, please any help will be appreciated. take note the shift am talking about, NOT that the lever will shift from D, but rather the orange light which confirm every shift position will shift to S, whereas the real lever is IN D, this will happen after driving for a while, then suddenly you will see S on panel and the D orange light will move to S... but the lever is still at D,

Thanks.

Just replying here so that others searching can find the answer to your problem
If your car is Ford Ranger transmission is randomly getting stuck in sports mode and not changing gears correctly the problem with be your gear shift assembly. There is a computer power board under the selector that corrodes usually when someone spills a drink on the console "common". This chip tells the transmission if you want sports mode or not, if it gets wet over time it will start to misbehave causing the car to randomly jump in and out of drive and sports mode and even stop the car from changing gears.. easy fix but hard to diagnose

Good Day Do they sell the board by itself or do I have to change the entire gear assembly? if they sell the board by itself would you happen to know the part number?
