Anyone familiar with Nissan's e4wd systems?
The system consists of a rear motor for driving rear wheels, engine driven generator for powering the rear motor, cand a control module.
The issue is the 4wd system isn't working. Initially the generator seemed not to be putting out power to the motor. Think of it like an alternator; output terminal and 2 pin plug. One wire comes from a relay and with switch on 4wd engine running is showing battery voltage but the other got no higher than 59mv. The output of the generator was 3v but if I put my test light to battery +ve and touch the low voltage wire the generator comes on producing system voltage 14-19v.
My thoughts are the module should be good because I think it's what's activating the relay when 4wd switch is pushed. One thing I do find strange is the switch has 6 wires ; 12v, 3 grounds, 5v, and one that seems dead, when you push 4wd 12v stays, 5v is grounded, and the "dead" wire is grounded. I find it strange because it goes from 3mv to gnd, suspected open.
Glad it's not just me, I haven't run into that design on a Nissan.
