All,

The customer called today complaining his vehicle won’t start, supposedly it doesn’t crank and said he replaced battery and ignition switch two weeks ago. I’ll be diagnosing the vehicle tomorrow but don’t have an electrical diagram. Would someone provide me a starting circuit diagram, alternator, ignition switch and perhaps main relay and anything that may keep it from cranking over? Not sure what I’ll find my self into with this vehicle.

Thanks
Josh

Might as well order a starter. VERY common issue with these vehicles. The starters develop high resistance and either crank slow, or don't crank at all.

This condition can easily be ID'd with a scope connected across the battery during a cranking attempt. It'll look like this:

The dips in battery voltage are when the key is turned to crank, and the starter is trying to draw current from the battery, but can't.

Because the starter is under the intake, power and ground testing at the starter directly isn't possible without some disassembly. Basically, if your battery tests OK and you can hear the starter solenoid click, go for a starter.

Because it's a CR-V, you CAN replace the starter without taking the intake off. ETCG has a video on it. It's about the same amount of hassle either way. :silly:
